About this P90Xer

P90X Before Photo - FaceHi my name is Mark and I’m a P90Xer.  I’m 45 years old, married and have two young kids.  By day, I’m a marketing coordinator for a company that manufacturers industrial electronics, by night I’m blogging here or working on some other affiliate marketing sites that I run.

In my early years I had a weight problem.  The problem was I was always underweight. That’s hard to believe now.

My parents tell me that when I was a child, I was so small that my parents took me to the doctor to have me checked out.  The doctor looked me over and told me parents that I was fine and sooner or later I would put on the weight,  He was so right, 40 years later all that underweight caught up with me.

During college I was still active enough and my metabolism was still working overtime to keep my weight in the 130-135 pound range.  After I was married, I noticed the pounds starting to creep up.  I was working long hours on my new job and not always eating the best foods for lunch.  When I saw the scale hit 155, I studied the fitness magazines, bought a weight set and went to work.  I had my weight down to 132 lbs and switched careers.  I managed to keep the weight down until my wife got pregnant.  Then as my wife gained weight, I added the pounds too.  I lost a little bit of it and then the second child came along.  More weight and this time it was harder to take off.  Ever so slowly I gained weight until the young, 135 lb husband became the fat middle-aged dad tipping the scales at 194 lbs in December ‘08.  Since I’m 5′ 7″, this weight puts me just over the border into the obese category on the BMI and weight charts.  Me…obese?  It seemed like just yesterday I fit into jeans with a 30″ waist.

Wow, I can’t believe I’ve let myself go for so long without doing something about my weight and general level of fitness.  My BMI is at a point that I either need to lose about 30 pounds or grow another foot to get it in the normal range.  Looks like I’ll be losing the weight.  The time for action is now and I’ve chosen P90X as my means to achieve the goal for weight loss and fitness.  Actually I began my weight loss adventure by changing my eating habits and starting an exercise program that I used about 20 years ago to drop twenty pounds in about six months.  I was alternating between free weights and using a stationary bike for cardio exercise.  I received a pull-up bar for Christmas and was planning on adding in some pull-ups for a better back and shoulder workout.

I happened to be watching TV one Saturday morning and saw the P90X commercial.  I am a skeptical person by nature, but there was something about this set of fitness DVD’s that appealed to me.  Maybe it was the variety of the routines.  Maybe it was the extreme hardcore nature of the exercises that reminded me of the workouts during my wrestling team days.  Maybe it was the fact that they showed guys about my age getting some great results.

I got online and checked out some of the blogs (like this one) and read accounts of how people were dropping weight and getting ripped with P90X.  I checked out the Youtube videos of people showing their transformation.

Well, with the money back guarantee, I figured all I would be out is the shipping and handling fees.  After the DVD’s arrived, I watched them all to see what was ahead of me.  It looked really intense and I had just started getting back into shape so I chose February 3rd as my day one.  That gave me more time to increase my strength and aerobic capacity so I could “Bring It” everyday.

Here are some of my Day One Stats:

Weight: 185 lbs

Waist: 40″

After successfully completing the P90X program, I decided to join the ranks of other fitness enthusiasts and became an Independent Beachbody Coach.
