P90X Review Core Synergistics (Day 54 - Phase 2)
Core synergistics is one of those P90X workouts that start out slow and fairly easy and work into a heart pounding, muscle pumping exercise routine. I’m at the end of my recovery week and although I miss not pumping iron like the other workouts, these unique combinations still provide a challenge. One of the benefits I experienced rather quickly after I started P90X was an increase in energy level. I’m not sure if it was this or because I only had X Stretch yesterday, but last night I was going a little stir crazy. I just felt like I needed to do an extra P90X routine to expend the energy. I even had trouble winding down to go to sleep. I don’t think I’ll have that problem tonight, you really get a workout with Core Synergistics.
One of my favorite move is Banana Roll, it’s a nice warm-up for what’s in store for you during these core exercises.
Did my weigh in last Tuesday after Biggest Loser and I finally broke out of a month long plateau of zero weight loss. I know we aren’t supposed to focus on what the scale shows, I haven’t had any other detectable changes. I just kept pushing play, tracking my calories and tried something that Tom Venuto suggested in his book, “Burn the Fat - Feed the Muscle“. I increased my caloric intake for one day to a level slightly above what is suggested by the P90X Nutritional Guide. I still ate clean, just increased the calories to send a signal to body that I wasn’t starving. After I did that, I finally dropped 1.5 pounds. I’m trying to maintain a gradual weight loss of one to two pounds a week.

I know what you mean about being stir crazy during recovery week. I was a bad boy and did cardio workouts at the gym during my recovery weeks.
Yes, Core Syn is deceptive at the beginning. It is one of my favorite workouts.
You know, I did the same thing, I raised my caloric intake a bit and then my weight started to come off! In the last two weeks, my weight began to move down after a plateau.

Core Syn is just a great workout. During my next round of training core syn will be worked in weekly!
Boomer is right about the calories. When I started P90X my weight was 183lbs. I was eating 2700-3000 calories per day — my weight just shed off! I couldnt believe that I was eating that much and still losing weight — sort of went against everything I ever though I knew. The reality is that the intensity of this program requires a larger than normal caloric intake. Otherwise you’ll just be burning lean muscle or carbs. Keep working hard and eating clean and it will come!

I’m in Phase 2 of my P90X and it is kicking me in the butt. I’m still working out in the gym so I think both workouts are catching up with me. I’m enjoying the referral rewards though. I actually made some some money with P90X. I’m looking forward to insanity as well. Health is Wealth, pass it on…

I just started the P90X and I think that it is definitely not for the faint of heart but don’t see how it’s supposed to help you lose weight since there are really only 2 days of cardio in the classic program. I understand you burn more calories by gaining muscle mass but doing this 4 hours a week will only take you so far. I wonder what percentage of the success is from diet and what is from this program by itself.

That’s great you are taking it as a pound to two pounds a week. Way to stay safe! I was concerned about that when a friend of mine showed it to me. Im glad you are able to lose 1-2 pounds a week. Thanks for that info!
